OK, SO HERE'S WHAT THE GAME IS ACTUALLY ABOUT

Like Celeste? Meat Boy? TEiN?
Awesome.

This game will be right up your alley.

Don't know what those are?
Keep reading. Maybe you'll see something that catches your attention.

FewTileEffort, in essence, is a precision platformer. For those uninformed on what that phrase actually means, it's essentially a 2D game where your player moves left and right (and jumps most of the time) to traverse levels and to complete them. In FTE, you also get a dash! How fun!

TL;DR, beat hard levels to win.

Sounds simple, right?

Well, yes. Simple.
The game is not complicated to follow. FewTileEffort uses tiles (i.e platforms) as the main drivers of this game. Don't touch lava, harder control on slip tiles, swing off of swing tiles, etc.

HOWEVER.

The game is hard. Like, really hard.

The hardest levels of this game definitely surpass any of what Celeste offers in its vanilla. I don't even know how many people will actually be able to beat the main progression of the game.

So: Don't play the game if you aren't ready for a challenge. It looks deceptively easy at first, but trust me on this one, it gets WAY harder (especially in The Tower, the final levels of the game).

The game also has a lot of content, too! But I'll explain that in a bit. For now, you may proceed to the next section.

MODES

Main Game

The Trials

The supposed "Main Game" is actually just the first leg in a much larger progression! Yes, I know the naming is a bit misleading...

Here, you're introduced to the core tiles and mechanics of the game. It's fairly simple, but will likely cause some mild frustration.

This section consists of 30 levels across three worlds. Each world introduces some new mechanics that will be CORE to the game.

Difficulty: 💀💀

Frustration: 🤬

It's just a single level, no new mechanics. Literally no difficulty, but surprisingly frustrating! Just.. play!

Epilogue

A final test of the skills you learned in the Main Game.

The Gauntlets

Challenge Zone

A short collection of new mechanics throughout 5 mechanic-specific levels.

Difficulty: 💀

Frustration: ❌

A collection of bite-sized challenges which are all overall demanding but very, very short.

Hardcore

The Tower

A revisit to the Main Gam,e mode, across three more worlds, now with significantly amped-up difficulty across all 30 levels.

The hardest challenge yet...?

Difficulty: 💀💀💀💀

Frustration: 🤬🤬🤬

The last component of the core progression of the game.

Incredibly difficult and uses all the mechanics from the previous segments.

A significant step up from Hardcore, and much longer, consisting of 10 unique worlds across 100 levels. Revisit old mechanics, new mechanics, and use the dash far more frequently.

Overall actually funner than most of the previous but also more frustrating

There's a postgame...? Well, that's for you to discover.

Completionist

Every mode has its own individual completionist mode. This is a postgame chapter akin to golden berries in Celeste that require you to complete the entire mode without even a single death.

These are obviously way harder than their base equivalents.

There is also a final Completionist mode, All-In-One, stringing every last completionist mode together as one.
